On April, 17 2023, ARPA Puglia - a Project Partner of SMARTPORT - will organize a round table with local stakeholders in order to promote and enhance the information derived from the Project, which has reached its final stages. The event will be held in the "Pietro Acclavio" Library, in Taranto. Experts from the University of Salento and ISPRA will attend the meeting, together with representatives of the Port Network Authority of the Ionian Sea and ARPA Puglia.
Port cities like Taranto are a complex interaction of production-occupation-environmental-social factors. In this context, the system Port of Taranto represents an important driving force for social, economic, and employment development which, however, is necessary to manage according to the principles of the circular economy and to improve the energy-environmental sustainability, in order to reduce the possible impacts on climate and environment and on the health of communities living in coastal areas.
This round table is useful to present the Project activities of SMARTPORT - "Smart and Sustainable Energy Port", funded by the Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro 2014-2020 Program. The Project aims to enhance South Adriatic and Ionian ports’ energy profile by introducing eco-sustainable LED lighting systems through pilot actions and adopting new and efficient energy strategies that combine the use of renewable energy sources, energy saving, energy storage, and smart grid technologies.
